Hi guys,
I've just received a message from a customer (they're not on here) but i just wanted to share it with you as it's quite upset me.
I'm going to remove the ebay ID for privacy reasons. I'm looking for advice and whether anyone else feels the same way? It's just got to me a bit.

Dear ********,
***,
Thanks for letting me know this. I can honestly say he was in top condition with no tail damage when posted. Some bettas become stressed during posting and no matter what you do to try to reduce this, some don't cope as well as others. Sometime when males become stressed they tend to bit their fins. This is partially because they can't see what they're biting and partially because they may be hungary. Please read the bit about shipping in this article for more details: bettysplendens.com/articles/page.imp?articleid=1113
As for treating him now, add a little salt to his water - around 1 teaspoon per 20litres of water. If you have any Indian Almond Leaves, add one to his tank too (these contain great anti fungal & bacteria properties). If you don't have IAL, then treat with anti fungal medication. I would strongly advise feeding him some live foods - this will give him a boost in protein which will improve his condition and help to repair his fins
Please keep me updated on his condition. I really do care about the bettas i sell. I also have a Betta forum: www.bettatalk.co.uk - there are a few of us on there and some are very experienced with problems like this.
Kind regards,
Rox

Dear funky_fish_clothing,
hi,have done all of what youve advised.never knew they bit their own tails.have kept bettas for 2 years and have just started breeding, have 2 spawns but from f1 parents, its very hard to find a matching pair and the 1s we got of you are truly stunning, but i was a little concerned over his tail,as ive had bettas that have been fin nipped and no matter what ive done theyve died,so that was my main concern.he does seem to have perked up a lot hes in his own tank with stress coat, betta spa, water conditioner and other bettas around him that he can see.the female is in a bigger tank with other females and a few tetras, she wasnt stressed in the least.thankyou for your advice and time.will keep you updated as we have bought these to breed so will send you some pics when it happens in a few months.rob.oh im just about to bid on the black and silver dragon female, dont suppose youve a dragon male???
I hadn't had a chance to reply (very bust on Friday) Then today i got:

Dear funky_fish_clothing,
hi,just an update on the male betta (chi) that we purchased from you.after seeking advice from atison,he is now back to a fully conditioned state and sitting on his FULL nest of eggs and doing really well and looking a completly differant fish.on another point we found you a big dissapointment, your slow to reply,i.e regarding feedback,we asked if you had any male dragons and as you couldnt be bothered replying it has just lost you over £200 worth of business from us alone and just over £100 worth off a friend of ours.we take our betta breeding very seriously and like to know the background of our fish.THIS IS WHY WE BUY IMPORTS!!!! you couldnt even give us any seroius info.your lack of interest lost any faith we had,you do have some stunning bettas,we have now found a new supplier who cannot give us enough info, who has rung a number of times already, provided us with correct f numbers, totally differant service to yours.sorry if you feel this may be harsh but maybe in the future you will offer yourt customers more advice, time and after care.we will not be dealing with you again and also will be advising other breeders that we know of our experiance with you.you are selling livestock at the end of the day and we feel there is no after care available from yourself.the info you provided us with was very basic, you dont have to be a breeder to know the benefits of almond leaves and live foods with bettas.

So I've replied with:
Dear *******,
Hi,
I am sorry you feel this way, but please bare in mind that as a business i only work Mon-Fri and week some time off at the weekend. Your last message was on Thursday afternoon and wasn't urgent so you have only given me 1 working day to respond. It is lucky that i check my messages at the weekend for emergencies just in case.
Ok, lets sort things out. Firstly, when you contacted me to say the bettas had arrived in poor condition, you didn't even ask for advice on how to treat him, you only asked how he got in that condition, but i gave my advice on how to treat him anyway as i wanted the betta to be ok. I also gave you my betta forum website for further advice. When you replied on thursday afternoon (i received the message Friday morning) the message was of good news that the male was looking better. I was extremely busy that Friday trying to local a lost parcel of bettas (thankfully we did). Please forgive me, but that was more urgent and as your message was no longer concerning the wel-being of your betta, i continued with more urgent duties on the Friday. My business is purely dedicated to bettas, i have another ebay account- Aquarea-Shop and a website - www.aquarea.co.uk. I pointed you to the forum as i knew that if i wasn't available, then other breeder on there would respond very quickly.
So, to be fair, you've only given me 1 working day to reply and i have a genuine reason why i didn't. I do think it is quite harsh and unfair to be deterring people from buying betta from me for this. To be honest with you, i personally wouldn't have spawned the pair so quickly if the male was in the condition you described. Also, i would have conditioned the female with live food for a few days more, but if you've achieved a successful spawn, then the pair must be very happy and healthy. Problem solved.
You must remember that i am extremely busy with the business and i must prioritise. As your betta was now on the mend, i needed to turn my attention to bettas lost with the courier. I think you will agree this had to take priority.
I take my betta business very seriously and feel that i gave you all the info you needed at the time, even though you didn't ask for it. I took that not personally asking for advice and the way you worded your original message that you were experienced breeders anyway, otherwise i would have attempted to give further advice. I am very experienced myself. I have an import licence and am expecting a delivery at the end of the month. If you will consider giving me anther chance, i can order in bettas from Thailand especially for you. As for dragons, i have a couple orange males in stock and i think 1 orange dragon female. If you're still interested, i can take some pictures tomorrow for you.
If ever you need to get hold of me, my number is: 07714573698 - this is my business mobile for Aquarea. I ALWAYS have it on me and always answer when i can. If it goes to answer phone, leave me a message and i will call straight back. Please give me another go. You will not regret it. Ask anyone on my forum - they will give you a true view of my service.
Kind regards,
Rox
I'm not sure whether to take it as an actual complaint or whether he's over reacting. It's really got me down thought. Does anyone else feel the same about the service they've received from me?
