do the females not get them then? Im looking for a new algae eater as my common pleco has decided he doesnt like my turtle anymore (if anyone wants him for free? 15" - hes currently living in a 110 litre tank by him self and loads of plant pots etc to keep him happy) even though he's never agressive to any fish hes been put with. I just wasnt a massive fan of the bristles

Super Nat! Have you seen the photos on my facebook of my Daddy longfin bn? He is chunky and huge!! I've got 6 browns and 3 albinos (3 of whom are male). I love my plecos to bits!

I just wasnt a massive fan of the bristles Females can get bristles Charlie,- but nothing like the males. None of my females have bristles at all. It is possible for them to have small bristles just around the mouth area. Only males get them up the centre of their faces too. The males bristles grow thick and large. It can be hard to sex at a young age,- but really obvious as they mature. They are excellent algae eaters!

I think my albino BN is female she's getting bigger and no bristles!
